A Half-yearly General Meeting of

Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin,

THE PRESIDENT, addressing the meet
ing, said :—
The Report of the Council for the year
has been printed and has been circulated
amongst all the members of the Society.
I assume it has been read by every member,
and I take it at this meeting we may take
it as read.
I have now to propose that it
be adopted.
There are a few items in the Report to
which I should like to call special attention.
The first is under the heading The Solicitors
(Ireland) Act, 1898. The Report sets out
what has been done by your Council.
It may be
thought
that
in
the
time
that has elapsed since the last November
meeting
the Council might have
been
able
to make
greater
progress.
The
investigations of the matters that arose from
the consideration of the resolution of last
November made it clear
to the Council
that the greatest care had to be taken in
the interests of the profession, and as these
matters were considered, the necessity for
