MR.

JOSEPH ALLEN, Solicitor, died on

the 12th March, 1939, at his residence,

35 Castle Street, Lisburn.

Mr. Alien served his apprenticeship with

the late Mr. F. W. Charley, Lisburn, was

admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1890, and was

senior member of the firm of Joseph Alien

and Son, Lisburn.

He was an Extra-Ordinary member of

the Council of this Society from 1911 to 1931.

MR. L. JACKSON HOLMES, Solicitor, died

on the 19th March, 1939, at his residence,

" Ferrard," Antrim.

Mr. Holmes was admitted

in Hilary

Sittings, 1890, and practised at Antrim.

MR. TIMOTHY P. COFFEY, Solicitor, died

on the 21st March, 1939, at his residence,

Park ViUas, Dundalk.

Mr. Coffey served his apprenticeship with

Mr. John Mackay, Dundalk, was admitted

in Trinity Sittings, 1916, and practised at

Dundalk up to 1932, when he was appointed

County Registrar for Leix.

MR. THOMAS MAGUIRE, Solicitor, died on

the 24th March, 1939, at his residence,

The Firs, Hollywood, Co. Down.

Mr. Maguire was admitted

in Trinity

Sittings, 1887, and practised at Belfast

up

to 1933, when he retired.

MR. FLORENCE F. MACCARTHY, Solicitor,

died on the 13th March, 1939, at Northampton.

Mr. MacCarthy served his apprenticeship

with the late Mr. Justin MacCarthy, Dublin,

was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1896, and

practised as a member of

the firm of

MacCarthy, Hanrahan and Moloney,

at

Cork up to 1933, when he retired.

MAJOR HUGH J. JONES, Solicitor, died on

the 14th March, 1939, in Dublin.

Major Jones served his apprenticeship

with the late Mr. A. H. Morgan, Thurles,

was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1899,

and practised at Waterford.

He was Probate Registrar for Waterford,

Wexford and South Riding of Tipperary.

MR. JOHN A. J. BROOKS, Solicitor, died

on the 18th March, 1939, at his residence,

Sunday's Well House, Killarney.

Mr. Brooks served his apprenticeship with

the late Mr. D. M. Moriarty, Killarney, was

admitted

in Hilary Sittings,

1900,

and

practised at Castleisland for some years.
