MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.

14th March.

Twenty-three members present.

Indemnity Policy.

A letter was read from a member giving

particulars of a case in which he is insured

under a Solicitors' Indemnity Policy, issued

by London underwriters through a Dublin

agent, and under which he has made a claim

against the underwriters, and in reply, he has

been informed that such a claim can only

be pursued by him in the English Courts of

Justice.

The letter, and accompanying particulars,

were referred to the Privileges Committee

to deal with.

Statutory Committee.

A letter was read from the Chief Justice

appointing Mr. G. A. .Overend

to be a

member of the Statutory Committee.

Section 47.

Four applications under Section 47 were

dealt with.

Land Registry.

The decision of the President of the High

Court in re M. E. Strong, a registered owner,

was referred to the Land Acts Committee.

Solicitors' Bill, 1940.

The consideration was continued of the

draft Solicitors' Bill, 1940.

OBITUARY.

MR. HENRY P. F. DONEGAN, Solicitor, died

on the 17th March, 1940, at Cork.

Mr. Donegan served his apprenticeship

with the late Mr. Patrick O'Hea, Cork, was

admitted

in Hilary Sittings,

1893,

and

practised at 74 South Mall, Cork.

MR. SAMUEL HENRY, Solicitor,, died on

the 16th March, 1940.

Mr. Henry served his apprenticeship with

the late Mr. James Alexander, Belfast, was

admitted

in Hilan' Sittings,

1917,

and

practised at 83 Royal Avenue, Belfast.
