WELCOME TO SPECIAL RECREATION
A. D. A.
The Village of Orland Park is an active advocate for full participation
under the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The Village’s Recreation and Parks Department is committed to
meeting unique individual leisure time needs.
AAI is a medical concern which requires programming precautions
that may affect participation in specific programs that require extensive
neck movement. If your child has Down Syndrome and you would like
more information regarding Atlanto-Axial Instability, you can go to
the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) website at
.
org and click on Healthcare Associated Conditions. There you will find
information on AAI.

the special recreation section of this brochure, the Recreation and Parks
Department encourages and supports inclusive programming for a
variety of programs: dance, athletics, early education, etc. Please indicate
on your registration form if a 1:1 aide is needed to help make your
child’s experience successful.
Once registration is confirmed, please
contact Barb Rhodes, Special Recreation ProgramCoordinator,
at 708.403.6202 to discuss your child’s needs.
An assessment
will be completed by the Special Recreation Staff and a 1:1 staff will
be provided. In the event that a 1:1 aide is not available, the Special
Recreation staff will notify you immediately. Failure to register first may
