ST EDWARD’S CHRONICLE

Will Webb

Where were you beforeTeddies?

At the Dragon.

What House are you in and what

are you studying?

I’m in Kendall and I’m taking A Levels in

Biology, Chemistry and Geography.

What extra-curricular activities

are you involved in?

I’m head of the Army section in the

CCF and a member of the climbing

club. I also co-run our pupil film

society, Teddies on Camera (TOC),

and work in The North Wall and the

Hall on school plays, Saturday night

activities and other events.

Which school production have

you enjoyed most in your time

atTeddies?

Fame!

This was one of the first large

productions I organised lighting for.

The play was great fun to be part of

because all of the cast and crew were

constantly happy. The group dances and

solo singers were seriously impressive

and help from outside school made the

production very professional.

What is the benefit of having

The NorthWall on site?

I am able to work alongside

professionals in the theatre industry

so I learn much more than I otherwise

would. The staff there try to get us

involved as much as possible

Which drama teacher has had

the biggest influence on you?

Clive Stevenson. He’s not really

a Drama teacher, but Clive is the

technical manager of The North Wall.

He is my main source of knowledge as

well as being fun to work with.

What is your dream venue to

work in?

I’ve always wanted to go to the

Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the

summer. It would be so busy and I

would enjoy the challenge of having to

set up in a new theatre in a very short

space of time. A large event in the O2

with a massive budget would also be

great fun! With more money you can

hire better equipment which can give

you a better end result.

Best thing aboutTeddies?

The wide range of opportunities that

School offers and therefore you are able

to balance work and extra-curricular

activities.

Best thing about being at school

in Oxford?

We are not isolated from the ‘real’

world; some schools are in the middle

of nowhere and the pupils can be

unaware of what’s going on around

them.

What do you want to do after

School?

I have arranged to work in a secondary

school in rural Nepal for a year before

seeking a commission from the Army

and hopefully joining The Rifles.
