Karmeliterkloster,

opf. 1480—1500. Tæt nord

ost for Byen ligger

Kronborg Slot,

Nordens skønneste Renæssanceslot, hvis Navn

er blevet verdensberømt gennem Shakespeare’s

»Hamlet«, som foregaar her.

trinlig Udsigt over det livligt trafikerede Farvand

og den danske og svenske Kyst. — Af Seværdig

heder i Slottets

Indre

er der først og fremmest den

smukke

K irke

i Sydfløjen, uden Tvivl den skønne

ste Renæssancekirke i Norden. Endvidere

Handels-

og Søfarts Museet

i Nordfløjen og de under Fæ st

ningsværkerne beliggende

Kasematter.

Kronborg Castle

the most beautiful renaissance building in the

North, the name of which has become world-famed

by tlie scene of Shakespeare’s Hamlet being laid

here. The Castle was built in 1575—85 by Frede

rik II, and has been of great importance as a

fortress and in connection with the collecting of

the Sound Toll. It is still surrounded by the origi

nal hig-h walled ramparts and moats. with the

later added ”Kronværk”, a straight line of fortifca-

tions with moats and bastions out towards the

Sound. Particularly from the "Flagbattery” there

is an exceptionally fine view over the busy fairway

and the Danish and Swedish coasts. — Of the

Interior

of the castle the chief item of interest is

the handsome

church

in the south wing, beyond

all doubt the most beautiful renaissance church in

the North. Further, the

Commercial Maritime

Museum

in the North wing, and the

Casemates

under the forts. — Tickets for admission can be

obtained in tlie ground floor in the court yard

lst

entrance to the left, for the church and the large

tower: 25 Ore; the Museum 50 Ore, and the

Casemates 40 Ore.
