B y g n i n g e n, »Prinsens Palæ«, der i Begyn
delsen af 18. Aarhundrede tjente som Bolig for
Kronprinsen (Chr. VI.) og senere dels har været
beboet af forskellige fyrstelige Ejere, dels har af
givet Lokaler til forskellige Institutioner som Vi
denskabernes Selskab og Højesteret, stammer i sin
nuværende Skikkelse fra 1743—44 (Arkitekt

ved),
restaureret 1767 (Arkitekt
Harsdorff).

Det stilfulde trefløjede Kompleks indeslutter en
lille rektangulær Gaard, hvis fjerde Side ud mod
Gaden dannes af en lav Forbindelsesbygning mel
lem Fløjene, prydet med en Række Statuer og Va
ser. I Gaarden staar en Kopi af en af Danmarks
smukkeste Stendysser og en original Jættestue, der
er flyttet fra sin oprindelige Plads paa Lolland og
genopstillet her i 1906.

T h e b u i l d i n g "Prinsens Palæ” which at
the beginning of the 18th century was the resi-
dence of the Crown Prince (Chr. VI) and was
later occupied by several royal personages, now
houses various institutions such as the Society of
Scientists and the Supreme Court. In its present
shape it dates from 1743/44 (Architect Eigtved)
restored 1767 (Architect
Harsdorff).
The elegant
three winged block encloses a little rectangular
court, the fourtli side of which is formed by a
connecting building between the wings, adorned
with a number of statues and vases. In the court
there is a copy of one Denmark’s handsomest
cairns and a dolmen which wras removed from
its original position in Lolland and re-erected here
in 1906.

The Danish collection
(grave finds, settlement finds, implements, artistic
objects and utensils etc. from prehistøric times
up to 1660). 2)
The ethnographical collection
(races outside European culture). 3)
Collection of
antiques
(Assyrian, Egyptian, Phoenician, Greek,
Roman and others). 4)
Collection of coins and
medals
(comprising all times and countries, about
150,000 exhibits, one of the largest and most in-
teresting collections of its kind in the world).
