Rear-Commodore’s Comments:
Rear Commodore, Pat Carroll
Two Elite Brigades down and two more to go. Then we have two regular work parties
and the Club is open. Four more weeks and we start another year at NCYC.
As Board members, we need to make sure that we contact our member friends and
convince them to participate in the work parties. We still have an awful lot to get
accomplished in the next four weekends. On Saturday morning when we get to the
island, look at the list of what needs to be done, grab some members and attack as
many tasks as you can. Let’s make sure that everyone that comes to the island is put to
work, we have something for everyone to do no matter what their limitations might be.
We can make the island be the showplace that she really is if we as Board members
manage and make use of the manpower that attends our work parties.
Financial Report
Treasurer, Frank Corcoran
Financial Review
Frank presented an update on the financial results through March. Revenues for the
month of March were $14,219, YTD stand at $131,538. Expenses for March were
$4,654, YTD stand at $33,777. Net income for the month of March and YTD were
$9,565 and $97,760, respectively. Cash balance stands at $164,730 at the end of March,
and the First Merit loan balance was $107,006 as of March 31.
Comcast Agreement
Frank updated the Board that he and the Commodore finalized discussions and
negotiations with Comcast for a new three year agreement to provide Internet, TV, and
phone service to the Island. Included in the new Comcast agreement is a substantially
increased internet capability and speed that should alleviate past performance issues
that have frustrated members. Based upon the overlap of other nearby systems, and to
avoid degradation of the system and ensure privacy of our network for NCYC members
only, the WIFI system will be password protected. Further information will be provided
to members on the password.
During the installation scheduled for April 27, the technicians will decide what
equipment relocations or additional equipment needs to be installed to optimize the
system capability. With the Comcast agreement, services previously provided by Dish
Network and AT&T have been discontinued. The Comcast agreement provides the Club
with an Off-Season pricing structure to minimize costs when the Club is closed. Frank
and the Commodore also recognized Keith McGregor for his helpful technical input and
preliminary work on the project with Comcast.
