Copper plant
Shilpi Cable Technologies is set to invest $150 million in Abu
Dhabi to establish a plant for manufacturing copper
products. A company document said that the board has
approved the project through a subsidiary, and that the
facility will have a manufacturing capacity of 60,000 metric
tonnes of copper products.
It added that it will invest $50 million through equity and the
balance of $100 million will be through debt.

The power ministers of all Indian states, meeting in Goa,
have made a resolution to focus on the hydro and wind
power sectors to develop a comprehensive policy to revive
stalled projects.
Union minister for power, coal and renewable energy
Piyush Goyal told a press conference that to boost the
hydro power sector, a committee has been established
under the chairmanship of West Bengal power minister
Manish Gupta. It will submit its recommendations by 30
th
September 2016.
Mr Goyal confirmed that all ministers were resolved to
provide constant power to all households by May 2017, and
that all states, except those affected by left-wing extremism,
had resolved to electrify all villages by December 2016.
Participating states resolved to install only tamper-proof,
communication-enabled smart meters. The minister said
that the cost of smart meters has fallen by 60 per cent as a
result of central procurement, and is expected to fall further
in the near future.
Hybrid project
Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL), a
state-owned power utility company, and renewable energy
company Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) have
agreed to invest approximately $4.6 million in the
construction and development of a solar/wind hybrid power
project located at Rangrik in Himachal Pradesh, India.
