The
yoga
postures and
praanayama
(breath control) aided by vibrations of
man-
tra
and
naada
can purify and activate the
chakras
and make the
jeevi
reach the goal of
ultimate bliss.
The basic procedure is to concentrate
with
breathing-in-through
right
nostril
holding breath, and breathing out through
left nostril. If this breath is also charged by
effective
mantras,
which have been initiated
by a
guru,
the effect is instantaneous. The
mantra
advocated as most effective is the
Bala mantra-Eim, Kleem, Sau. Bala mantra
at the
Moolaadhaara
source makes one
aware of the 'I am operating' feeling.
Vibrations by
naada
or music are most
effective in activating
chakras.
Where there
is rhythm, there is vibration; so music and
bhajans
automatically help by produ in~ and
transmitting vibrations that cleanse inter-
nally and remove all blockades. This opens
up psychic
chakras
and makes a person
aware of the inner life.
The seven
chakras
are
Moolaadhaara,
Swadhishtana,
Manipuraka,
Anahata,
Vishuddhi, Ajna and Sahasrara.
The
Ajna chakra
has a lotus of two pet-
als in
vidyut varna
(violet colour). Here one
has to worship
Paramaatma
accompanied
by
Iccha shakli.

teen petals in transparent crystal and here
the
jeevaatma
is in conjunction with
praana
shakti.
The
Anahata chakra
has a lotus of
twelve petals in golden colour and here the
presiding God is Lord Shiva with Goddess
Parvathi.
CHAKRAS
: ENERGY CIRCLES
The
Manipuraka chakra
is a lotus of ten
petals, in blue colour, and the deity to be
worshipped is Lord Mahaa Vishnu with his
consort, Goddess Lakshmi.
The
Swadhistana chakra
is a lotus of six
petals, in orange colour and the reigning de-
ity here is Lord Brahma accompanied by
Goddess Saraswathi.
The
Moolaadhaara chakra
at the base,
is the seat of the coiled
kundalini shakthi.
Finally there is the
Sahasrara chakra
which .is a thousand petalled lotus, and in
multi-colours. Here one has to worship the
guru
accompanied by
Moksha shakthi.
The
Sahasrara
is also referred to as
Brahma
randhra.

MANTRA
Om Hrim Dumdurgayai Namah
Durga Dhyaanam
: She is decorated with
various kinds of ornaments and is riding a
lion. She wears a serpent as the sacred
thread. She has four hands and wears blood
coloured garments. Her body radiates like
the rising sun.
Munis
like Narada always
show devotion. “Oh Bhavagehini, whose
navel is a beautiful junction having three
parallel lines in the great island of jewels,
sitting on the throne of a lotus blossom, I
meditate on Thee who is the root of the
world.”
MANTRA
Om Namah Shivaya
Shiva Dhyaanam :
He is beyond the seed
of creation. He dispels fear of the universe.
He has five heads, each of which has three
eyes. He sits in
padmaasana
(the lotus
pose) on a tiger skin. All the gods pray to
him who performs the
vara mudra
(dispel-
ling of fear) and
abhaya mudra
(granting of
boons). In his other hands he holds an axe
and a deer. He is always cheerful and
graceful. I meditate on the form of Shiva,
whose body is like the silver mountain and
on whose head is the crescent moon.
