BEKA Schréder recently hosted a series of seminars to update its client base on
the newly issued ARP 035 guideline, as well as on the latest developments in
LED technology.
Almost 600 professionals and customers from various sectors of the industry,
includingmunicipal and electrical consulting engineers, attended the seminars
that were held in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Polokwane, Gaborone
(Botswana), Bloemfontein, Maseru (Lesotho), Nelspruit, Swaziland, and Pretoria.
BEKA Schréder’s Nadja Smith explains that the South African Bureau of Stand-
ards (SABS) recently re-issued the well-known‘Approved Recommended
Practice (ARP) 035’document to include guidance on LED technology and the
evaluation of LED streetlighting installations as compared to conventional

Reggie Nxumalo has been appointed as general
manager at Philips Lighting and will head the
company’s southern African lighting operations.
In his new role, Nxumalo will be responsible for
driving market share for Philips’ lighting busi-
nesses across Southern Africa, including lamps,
consumer luminaires and professional luminaires.
