Maximum silence in waste systems
Sanitary fixtures, along with the relative water discharge systems, contribute to
the generation of disagreeable noise.
The proper design of waste systems and appropriate technical means help
reduce the extent of the problem.
Silere is a soundproof waste system designed by Valsir, consisting of a range
of pipes made of a special material that ensures maximum silence in waste
systems. The system possesses soundproofing properties that have been
confirmed by the Fraunhofer Institut fur Bauphisik in Stuttgart, Germany.
In terms of soundproofing,
Silere is claimed to
exceed cast iron and to be
superior to polypropylene.
The Silere pipes and
fittings are equipped with
sockets, with a push-fit
connection system that
allows a rapid installation.
Another advantage of
installation is that no
special or expensive tools
are required. This factor is
importantwhencalculating
the total cost of the work
and the materials. The
push-fit connection system, which uses rubber seals, not only reduces
installation times, but allows vibrations in the piping system to be reduced. This
is not possible with other connection techniques, such as welding.
The soundproofing properties of Silere are the result of several factors, including
the particular connection system, the elevated wall thickness and the material
employed for the fabrication of the pipes and fittings.
It is known that materials with a large thickness are not easily prone to vibrations,
thanks to their elevated moment of inertia.
The material used possesses a polymeric base of copolymer polypropylene,
and is therefore impact resistant at low temperatures.
The mineral load, the colourant and the flame retardant additive (class B2 in
compliance with DIN 4102) are added to this in suitable percentages.
Silere pipes and fittings are available with external diameters of 58, 78, 90, 110,
135 and 160mm, in lengths from 150 to 5,000mm. Connections can be made
with any other type of waste system (cast iron, HDPE, PP, etc) with the use of
suitable reducers and special pieces.
The material used to make Silere is acid and alkali resistant, and impedes the
formation of scale thanks to smooth internal surfaces. It is heat resistant up to
a temperature of 95°C.
Silere is suitable for use wherever acoustic insulation is of fundamental
importance, in buildings such as hospitals, hotels, offices, apartments and all
areas that need to be protected from noise.
