Doctor Eric VERDON was born on February 6, 1964 in Versailles, France.

He graduated from Bordeaux University as a Doctor in Analytical Chemistry

(PhD, 1991). As a research scientist, he is the Head of the Department for

“Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Food” at the Laboratory of Fougeres, one

of the laboratories included in the French Agency for Food, Environment and

Occupational Health Safety (ANSES). His expertise lies in the area of

Analytical Chemistry dedicated to Veterinary Drug Residue Analysis by

Liquid Chromatographic Systems coupled to UV-Visible, Fluorimetric or

Mass Spectrometric detectors and also in the area of Validation. Eric

VERDON is a technical auditor for EU National Reference Laboratories. He

is regularly invited for advices and expertises by ANSES-DERNS (Direction

for Assessment of Hazards in Food Nutrition and Food Safety), EU DG-

Sanco (Health and Consumer Protection), EU DG-Trade, EU DG-

Enlargement and acts as an independent advisor for the United Nations joint

FAO/IAEA organisation on the subject of monitoring residues in food

products. He is also a member of the scientific community for Chemical

Contaminant Residues at the AOAC International.
