Elkin Roots Music Festival

Located at The Foothills Arts Council this year, the

Roots Music Fest features local and regional bands for

a donation of $10.The event has food, beer, wine, great

music, all in a relaxed atmosphere in the garden of the

arts council. Each year has had an impressive line up.

This year, the festival will have 3 featured bands and

evening hours.

Fiddle Crawl

The Fiddle Crawl is a public art initiative presented by

Mount Airy Downtown, Inc, featuring larger-than-life,

three-dimensional, fiberglass fiddle sculptures painted

and decorated by local artists.The fiddles are on display

throughout Downtown Mount Airy for the five-month

art exhibit, with some fiddles donated for exhibit year-

round. Stop by the Mount airyVisitors Center at 200 N.

Main Street for a Fiddle Crawl brochure and map as well

as a fun scavenger hunt activity featuring “Fiddle Riddles.”

Fourth of July Celebration and Parade

Harvest Festival

This is an annual event held at SheltonVineyards every

October, honoring the tradition of celebrating harvest

season, with a fireside kick-off the night before the

festival.There are free tours and tastings, an antique

tractor competition, grape stomping, local artisans, live

music, and more.

Heritage Day

This annual event is held at Historic Horne Creek Farm

every May with demonstrations including butter-making,

sheep-shearing, natural dyes, fiber arts, craft demonstra-

tions and wood working.The event also includes live

music and dancing, children’s games, cooking, gardening,

storytelling, crosscut sawing, beekeeping, crafts vendors,

and much more.

Hot Nights and Hot Cars Cruise-Ins

Hot Nights and Hot Cars are cruise-ins, free to the pub-

lic, held on Main Street of Pilot Mountain.They are held

on the first Saturdays of each month from June through

October from 4 to 10 p.m.There are 50/50 cash draw-

ings, vendors, swap meets, food, and live music. Bring a

chair and enjoy the festivities each month. One of the

YadkinValley wineries is featured at each event.

Light Up Downtown Elkin

Two events have combined into one fun and festive

event. Downtown Elkin offers a family friendly light up

event, carriage rides and a visit with Santa, along with

regional music and dancing throughout Main Street. One

block up, a beautiful event at the Foothills Arts Council

supplies a variety of artists booths, holiday crafts and

gifts, live music, beer/wine, firepit, food trucks, and more.

Hours: Typically the first Friday in December for both

events. On Saturday, the arts council is open for shop-

ping for gifts, or gallery viewings as well.

Mayberry Cool Cars & Rods Cruise-In

The cruise-in is held on the third Saturday of each

month from June through September, in Historic

Downtown Mount Airy. It includes cruising (with prizes

for participants), live music, great food, a 50/50 drawing,

and door prizes. Many downtown businesses will remain

open until the end of the cruise-in.

Mayberry Days

This annual event is held on the lastThursday through

Sunday in September with entertainment throughout Mount

Airy and many special guests,all celebrating the legacy of the

Mayberry Farm Fest and Tractor Parade

Downtown Mount Airy brings the community together

for the annual Farm Fest and Tractor Parade on the

weekend after Mother’s Day, in May each year.This fun,

family-friendly festival celebrates our agricultural roots

with food, music, heritage craft demonstrations, craft

vendors, farm displays, tractors, farm equipment on dis-

play, entertainment, children’s activities, and lots of fun!

The Tractor Parade kicks-off the festival on the Friday

evening before Saturday’s Farm Fest.
