Reevestock Music Festival

Located at Elkin’s Hidden Amphitheater, this music fest

is held the first weekend in August every year. It began

as a fund raiser for the Reeves Theater, but is now a

fund raiser for students in the region to support music

scholarships. This is a two-day event, with a free live

music showcase the night before in downtown Elkin at

Sonker Festival

Held in rural Surry Couny at the Edwards-Franklin

House, the Sonker Festival provides visitors with a day full

of sonker eating and flat footing.A sonker is a deep-dish

pie that is served in many flavors including the famous

sweet potato sonker with the old-fashioned “dip” as well

as strawberry, peach, blackberry, and more.This event is

held on the first Saturday of October each year.

Mount Airy Fiddler’s Convention

Held every June at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Mount

Airy, the long-running fiddler’s convention celebrates the

old-time music tradition in Surry County.The sounds of

sweet music are broadcast from the main stage bands

compete and enjoy jamming with other musicians.A

Open Air Art Market

The Foothills Arts Council’s annual holiday event is a

new spin on an old market. Enjoy dozens of artisans

under tents with twinkle lights, offering beautiful gifts for

the holidays, crafts for children, greenery and wreaths,

wineries, food, hot chocolate and s’mores, live music

with various bands scheduled both days, fire pits and

seating areas, and beautiful holiday décor throughout the

gardens. Gallery open inside the Council as well. Family

friendly event and it occurs the same night as Elkin’s

Light up Night in historical downtown, one block away.

Pumpkin Festival
