Gibbs Wire & Steel Company has

celebrated the first anniversary of the

opening of its service center in Queretaro,

Mexico. Under the guidance of its general

manager, Carlos Navarro, Gibbs has

been very successful in the region,

and witnessed tremendous growth.

In June 2012, Navarro hired a new

salesperson to increase the company’s

market share inwireand todevelopnew

customers in strip within the territory.

Gibbs Wire and Steel has a network

of metal service centers, strategically

located throughout the US, Canada,

and Mexico.

US wire rod price

increases

Fueled by increasing scrap prices,

American-based Nucor and Gerdau

Long Steel North America have

increased wire rod prices for September

by $80 per short ton. Keystone boosted

its price by $70 per short ton. Nucor has

also increased its rebar H-beam prices

by $30–$50 per short ton.
