THE USC 21 from EMAG is designed
for the machining of pipe ends with the
flexibility to cover all the applications
for standard and premium threads. The
choice of four spindle sizes allows all
pipe diameters from 23/8" to 20" to be
machined with the technological and
customised conditions. The USC 21
series is modular and can be executed
as a two-, four- or six-axis machine
concept.
As well as pipe threading machines,
EMAG offers customised machining
solutions for almost all sizes of
couplings, tool joints, rock bit cones
and pump components. The company
uses a wide range of vertical turning
and centre drive machines in order to
achieve this customisation.

Ultrasonic wall and concentricity measurement
BASED on its RotoUTscan ultrasonic
rotating head, Contrôle Mesure
Systèmes (CMS) has introduced the
new RotoUTDim for the dimensional
measurements of tubes and cables from
4 to 250mm diameter on the production
line.
This system is designed to measure
wall thickness all around the product,
OD, ID, ovality, concentricity and
eccentricity, for all types of materials,
including steel (ferrous and non-
ferrous), plastic and fibre glass.
Measurements are made by two
ultrasonic transducers that rotate around
the product. Data is collected in real
time over the entire circumference with
a step up to 0.1mm, and all along the
product (whatever the length) with a step
of 1mm. Accuracy of the measurements
is ±0.002mm. Data is collected in a
supervisor, visualised and saved. Gates
for alarms are available, and input of
encoder allows the positioning of the
data.
RotoUTDim covers a wide range of
industrial applications, such as nuclear,
automotive, precision tubes and cables,
medical and multi-layer coating.
