Special Education Needs and
Disabilities Service
Our team provides a service for
children and young people (0 - 19
years) with Special Educational
Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We offer advice and training for pre-schools,
mainstream schools and academies on how to meet
the needs of children with SEND. Our central purpose
is to promote the successful inclusion and progress of
children and young people with SEND to achieve their
personal best by working in partnership with schools,
parents and other agencies. We offer assistance
to schools in meeting the needs of pupils who are
experiencing a greater difficulty in accessing learning
than their peers.
“The value from
our partnership with
BLT comes from the strong
relationship with the different SEN
“hubs”, which support each area of
need (eg ASD/Hearing Impairment/Visual
Impairment/Physical Disability/Cognition and
Learning....) and the consistency of the support
that we receive from individual professionals. One
area that has worked very well has been presenting
opportunities to reach non-SEN children when
supporting students with a Statement of SEN or
Education Healthcare (EHC) Plan. For example,
when looking at developing Social Skills/Anger
Management and Social Communication and
Interaction difficulties.”
