ESC, the local funding will follow from the current to the new educational

service center.

Districts with enrollments larger than 16,000 students may elect not to

receive supervisory services from the educational service center so long

as that election is part of the agreement between the client and the

ESC.

Additional services provided under the agreement and the amount to be

paid for such services shall be mutually agreed to by the district board of

education and the service center governing board, and shall be

specified in the agreement. While there is no deadline for notifying the

CLASSIFICATION

CHANGE TO CITY

DISTRICT

When a local or exempted village school district contains within its

territory the major portion of a village which has been advanced to a city,

a majority of the board of education of that district may vote to become a

city school district, effective with the next succeeding first day of July.

If a small portion of the territory of the village advanced to a city is within

the boundaries of another school district, there is no automatic transfer

of the territory of the second school district to the first.

Both non-chartered, nonpublic and home schooled students are

permitted, but not required, to participate in the CWRAS (including the

EOC exams).

Two types of diplomas (i.e., a diploma and an honors diploma) are

recognized by Ohio law.

One-half of the CWRAS consists of seven end-of-course (EOC) exams:

English language arts I, English language arts II, science, Algebra I,

geometry, American history and American government.

A student enrolled in an Advanced Placement, International

Baccalaureate, or other advanced standing course must take the exams

for those courses in lieu of the physical science, American history, or

American government EOC exams. However, students may not take

any substitute exam in place of the English language arts I, English

language arts II, Algebra I, or geometry EOC exams.

The state board is required to consider additional assessments that

might be used, beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, as substitute
