Budget Resolutions

he
Secretary reported that a letter had been
written on behalf o f the Society to the Minister for
Finance, pointing out the difficulties in the practice
o f conveyancing which would be caused by Sections
24 to 27 o f the Finance Bill, 1949, and that it was
probable that these sections would also lead to
further delay in the assessment o f stamp duties.
It was ordered that a copy o f the letter should be
sent to each solicitor who is a member o f Dail
fiireann.
Land Registry costs

t
was ordered that an application should be made
to the Land Registration Rules Committee seeking
an amendment to the Land Registration (Solicitors’
Costs) Rules, 1947, by the substitution o f thirty-
three and one-third per cent, for twenty-five per
cent, therein as the permitted increase in the scale
fees under the Land Registration Rules, 1937. It
was also decided to ask the Committee to amend the
Schedule to the 1937 Rules (relating to the costs of
voluntary transfers) so as to allow the costs to be
charged in detail under Schedule 2, in cases where
the value o f the land transferred is less than £1,000.
High Court Costs and Commissioners’ fees

t
was decided that an application should be made
to the Superior Court Rules Committee for an
amendment o f the rules to enable the Taxing
Masters to allow travelling and subsistence expenses
to country solicitors attending Dublin for the
trial o f actions in the High Court.
It was also decided to apply to have Commis
sioners’ fees increased by 50 per cent.
