Corrosion resistant alloys for
demanding applications
Seamless tube and pipe solutions in
corrosion resistant alloys from Sandvik
are designed to provide operational
benefits in demanding production
environments.
Process plants, such as chemical,
petrochemical, refineries, steel and pulp
and paper, rely on the correct selection
of seamless tube and pipe for use in
coolers, condensers, boilers and heat
exchangers, as well as in hydraulic and
instrumentation tubing.
Sandvik states that its Duplex and
Super-Duplex stainless steel tubes,
such as Sandvik SAF 2507™, are used
extensively in process plants worldwide.
Investment in research and develop-
ment has led to the introduction of
a hyper-duplex grade with greater
operational and corrosion capabilities,
designed to increase plant operational
uptime. Sandvik SAF 2707 HD™ is
suitable for aggressive acidic, chloride-
containing environments and particularly
chlorinated seawater.
Tubular solutions supplied by the
company include seamless tube and
pipe developed for process plants,
chemical, petrochemical, refineries,
fertiliser plants, pulp and paper mills
and power generation plants for
reactors, coolers, condensers, boilers
and heat exchangers, and hydraulic and
instrumentation tubing.
“Not only do we have the ability to
supply tube and pipe both in seamless
and welded options, but a complete
piping system solution including,
flanges, butt welded fitting, screwed
and socket welded fittings and welding
supplies all available from stock and
competitively priced with short lead
times,” commented Mana Yilmaz of
Sandvik Materials Technology, Turkey.
In highly corrosive conditions, as
found in ethylene and fertiliser plants,
Sandvik composite tubes provide
high resistance to pitting and crevice
corrosion.
Materials such as Sandvik 3R60 Urea
Grade, with low ferrite content for greater
resistance to general, inter-granular and
pitting and crevice corrosion, can assist
in achieving higher output and reduced
maintenance.
A new premium composite tube,
Sanicro™ 67/4L7, offers even greater
resistance to stress corrosion cracking
and general corrosion for black liquor
recovery and other boiler applications in
the pulp and paper industry.
