Artofil
Booth 110
Artofil has manufactured high performance yarns,
including water blocking spun yarn and fine, filler
and binder yarns, since 1951. The company offers
a range of products suited to any cable design,
including microduct and nano cables.
Beta LaserMike
Booth 106
NDC Technologies will be showcasing several
Beta LaserMike products, including the DCM
ES-2G LAN/data cable testing system and the
LayScan
®
length measurement system.
The latest version of LayScan is designed to
solve scrap, rework, and productivity loss
problems caused by time-consuming manual
lay length measurement methods and crosstalk
performance issues from lay variations during
datacom cable production. LayScan enables
manufacturers to simultaneously measure four
pairs at the cabler and twinner to confirm the
accuracy of twisted-pair cable construction
during production.
LayScan measures lay lengths up to 25.4mm
at speeds up to 152.4m/min with 0.025mm
accuracy. LayScan can be used in conjunction
with the Beta LaserMike SRL Pro structural return
loss measurement system, used before and/or
after the extruder to identify potential causes of
structural return loss problems.
A Beta LaserMike product team will be available
to discuss the new DCM SCS-700 cable testing
system and NDC Technologies and Hitachi Cable
USA will give a joint paper presentation at the
conference technical session.
Davis-Standard LLC
Booth 227
Davis-Standard will be exhibiting its motorized
payoffs and take-ups. The machines are floor
traversing and collapsible, unlike Davis-Standard’s
current cantilevered arm and gantry style
machines. Advantages over previous designs
are said to include a smaller overall footprint and
enhanced operator ergonomics.
A complete range of machines is available from
1,250mm to 5,000mm (48 to 195 inches) with the
greatest concentration of machines within the
1,800mm to 2,500mm (70 to 98 inches) size range.
Each is available with a North American standard
controls platform.
For international projects, machines are
equipped with a Siemens AC drive, PLC and
HMI with a Mitsubishi servo drive. Machines are
available as stand-alone with a dancer or with
an accumulator.
Mossberg Associates Inc
Booth 418
Mossberg Associates is an independent supplier
of large cable drums, fully machined multi-wire
reels, pressed metal process reels, shipping reels
and ancillary equipment that includes take-apart
reels, reel tilters and movers and coil and reel
lifters.
OptEM Engineering
Booth 318
OptEM Cable Designer software can be used to
design and model all types of copper cables, and
is particularly suited to unshielded and shielded
twisted-pair, quad, ribbon, and subsea umbilical
cables, as well as flex circuits from DC to 10GHz
in telecommunication and data transmission
applications. OptEM Cable Designer utilizes
hierarchical-design techniques, where existing
design elements are building blocks (instances)
in constructing higher-level designs.
Built-in libraries of materials (frequency and
non-frequency dependent) and object
definitions are used in construction and can be
easily customized.
The software uses an EM field solver to analyze
high frequency skin and proximity effects in wires,
eddy currents in shields, and dielectric losses in
insulation. Frequency-dependent data is also
incorporated by identifying variations in material
properties at different frequencies. On output
the software provides ASCII reports for LRCG
parameters, and plots S-parameter data for RL, IL,
NEXT, FEXT, ELFEXT, PS-NEXT and PS-FEXT.
Pourtier and Sectic of America
Booth 405
Pourtier and Setic, manufacturer of rotating
machines for the non-ferrous wire and cable
industry, recently re-branded its new machine
division located in Greensboro, North Carolina,
USA, under the name of Pourtier and Setic of
America.
With over 20 years in the market and several major
machine installations in the USA, the company’s
product line includes Pourtier’s successful rigid
stranders and drum twisters for producing low,
medium and high-voltage cable and conductors,
as well as Setic’s large and small double twist
bunchers, and a complete line of machines for the
production of LAN and special cable.
The ES-2G LAN/data cable testing system will be on display
