New lines on show

Alpha Wire will be in Munich in November

for Electronica 2014, the world’s largest

electronic trade fair. The company will be

showcasing the tough new Pro-Tekt line

of cables, and its growing EcoGen line of

wire and cable.

Alpha Wire will be featuring the newest

addition to the EcoGen family, EcoCable

Mini. This 300V cable is AlphaWire’s smallest

and lightest cable, said to be up to 32

percent smaller and 44 percent lighter

than standard 300V PVC cable.

“EcoCable Mini is the smallest solution to

our customers’ biggest cable problems.

The size and weight savings are great

for the newest designs coming out in all

markets,” stated Emmanuel Deboval,

director of sales EMEA at Alpha Wire. “We

are sure the audience at Electronica will

be impressed by the size and weight of

this cable and will be able to take samples

home with them.”

EcoCable Mini features recyclable

mPPE jacketing and insulation with

superior dielectric properties, a -40°C to

+80°C temperature range, five shielding

options, and is available in over 250

standard multi-conductor and multi-pair

constructions from 28 to 20 AWG. Custom

and composite configurations are also

available.

Extended cable range

Huber+Suhner has extended its existing

range of shielded Radox

®

battery and

high voltage cables to offer the entire

cross-section set to automotive customers.

In compliance with ISO 6722, the company

now offers the intermediate cross sections

8, 12, 20, 30, 40 and 60mm

2

in addition to

its standard sizes. Radox power cables are

suited to high voltage applications in hybrid

and electric vehicles; the cable shielding

prevents interference with the sensors and

electronics in the vehicle space. The entire

product group is also available unshielded.

Huber+Suhner

is

among

the

first

manufacturers to offer the entire

cross-section set from 1.5mm

2

up to

150mm

. Where thicker cables had

previously to be used if the appropriate

intermediate cross-sectionwas unavailable,

a suitable cross-section is now said to exist

for every application, offering important

space, weight and cost savings to car

makers.

Radox cables have an electron beam

cross-linked

insulation,

resistant

to

weathering, ozone,moistureandchemicals.

The cables are designed for high and

low temperatures and feature excellent

abrasion resistance.

RET cable

Habia Cable has launched new remote

electrical tilt (RET) cables for mobile station

antennas. RET, or variable downtilt, antennas

enable mobile phone network operators to

optimize a network by adjusting the beam

of an antenna to meet changing conditions

such as variations in the density of traffic

during the day. Typically the movement

of the antenna array is controlled using an

RS485 signal carried over a multicore cable

together with electrical power to drive a

motor. The demands on the cable are high,

as they need to withstand the typically harsh

environmental conditions at the top of a

mast.

Brian Dempster, business development

manager at Habia Cable, described the

new RET cables as tested and approved for

temperatures from -40º to +60ºC as well as in

conditionsofmoisture, UV, dust andvibration,

and electromagnetic interference.
