Products and services

Floor grating products from Andrew

Mentis set the benchmark in South

Africa, according to Elaine van Rooyen,

marketing manager at Andrew Mentis.

These highly engineered products have

been used by local and international

companies for more than 40 years.

They are manufactured in a world-class

facility at Elandsfontein, Johannesburg,

to ISO 9001:2008 standards, using a

pressure locking system pioneered by

the company.

The two main floor grating products

from Andrew Mentis are Rectagrid RS40

and Gripweld. RS40 is a premium brand

produced by means of compressive pres-

sure locking of bearer bars and transver-

sals to form a pitch of 40 mm by 40 mm.

Gripweld on the other hand features

transverse bars fusion welded into the

bearer bars. RS40’s non-slip characteris-

tics are due to the positive raised sections

that create multi-directional obstructions

on the top of each bearer bar, allowing for

a far larger surface contact area.

“Smart engine-powered counter-balanced

type forklift trucks are now available with

two new types of engines to enhance

existing Kubuto diesel engines. A wider

choice of gasoline or diesel engines pro-

vides the flexibility to meet the diversified

performance requirements of industrial

trucks,” says Brenton Kemp, managing

director, Criterion Equipment, a wholly

owned subsidiary of Invicta Holdings. “Al-

though there are no significant changes

in specifications or external appearance

of this series, the engine changes will

improve performance,” he adds.

Smart internal combustion engine

forklift trucks, which have a power-shift

transmission and loading capacities of

2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 t, are now available

with two new types of engines – Isuzu

C240 diesel engines and GCT K21

gasoline engines. The new Isuzu C240

engines have a rated output of 35.4 kW

at 2 500 rpm, a maximum rated torque

of 140 Nm at 1 800 rpm and a service

weight of 4 240 kg, while the new

GCT K21 gasoline engines are rated at

34.6 kW at 2 250 rpm with a maximum

rated torque of 153 Nm at 1 800 rpm.

Relative humidity and

temperature transmitter for

HVAC industry

Michell Instruments, represented in South Africa by

Instrotech, a Comtest Group company, is offering

their WM Series, a wall-mount relative humidity (RH)

and temperature multi-unit transmitter. The unit has

the ability to display and provide an output signal of

relative humidity (%), dew point or absolute humidity

and temperature. Analogue output options include

4.0 to 20 mA, zero to 10 Vdc, zero to 5.0 Vdc and

zero to 1.0 Vdc. The 4.0 to 20 mA version is loop

powered while the voltage output versions are pow-

ered by a 14 to 30  V dc supply. The WM Series offers

excellent measurement accuracy and stability (+1 %

for RH over 12 months) wherever a wall-mounted

sensor is required.

The WM Series finds application in HVAC and

building management systems, swimming pools,

pharmaceutical storage facilities and climate room

monitoring.

Piston pump for oil and fluid

grease lubrication

SKF has announced the introduction of the

pneumatically driven PPS30 piston pump for

small- to medium-sized oil and fluid grease

lubrication applications. Featuring a compact,

modern industrial design, this affordable pump

is constructed from lightweight, high-perfor-

mance plastics.

The PPS30 piston pump is simple to install

and provides a flexible connection system

for convenient mounting. Because it is pneu-

matically driven, the PPS30 is not limited by

international voltage or plug standards and

can reduce pump inventory needs, because no

separate stock keeping of oil and fluid grease is

necessary. In addition, the piston pump reduces

operating costs over the unit’s life cycle through

minimal compressed air consumption.

The pump unit features an integrated relief

valve and electronic sensors, as well as visual

fill-level monitoring that is supplemented by an

electronic pre-warning function. Simple to clean,

the PPS30 piston pump has a central reservoir

opening that fills from all sides and a forward-

opening flap for drip protection.

Smart Tier 3 engine-powered forklift trucks

Criterion Equipment has launched a new

range of Smart TCM engine-powered forklift

trucks with engine management systems that

deliver efficient power, economic operation

and enhanced reliability.

emission control regulations and have an

engine management system that deliv-

ers efficient power, economic operation

and enhanced reliability. These Smart

machines have a full hydraulic steering

system without knob shift control. All the

operator has to do is keep turning the

hand-wheel at the end of each position.

TCM forklifts, reach trucks and

container handlers are available from

Criterion Equipment branches, as well

as dealers and agencies. The company

provides a technical advisory and support

service throughout Southern Africa.

Floor grating: SA’s benchmark

mining, where stringent safety require-

ments are critical in product selection.

Grating is available in mild steel, gal-

vanised, 3CR12 and stainless steel for a

variety of applications and environmental

challenges.

“Andrew Mentis has also developed a

range of corrosion-resistant floor grating

ideally suited to the extreme conditions

found in wastewater treatment plants.

All products in this range are designed

and engineered to suit situations where

the strength to weight ratio is important,

such as wastewater treatment plants,”

van Rooyen says.
