Sample Financial Aid Packages

Use the Net Price Calculator at

finaidcalc.ucmerced.edu

to estimate the amount of financial aid you might receive at UC Merced.

Direct Costs

Direct costs are those costs paid directly to the university.

Direct costs typically only include tuition/fees and on-campus

room and board, items that you will receive a bill for. Your actual

direct costs will vary depending on things such as whether you

attend full- or part-time, live on or off campus, etc. Direct costs

are different from the estimated Cost of Attendance (COA). The

COA is an estimate of ALL of your expenses and includes items

not paid directly to the university. These other indirect costs

include basic living expenses such as transportation, books and

supplies and personal expenses.

HOW MUCH FINANCIAL AID

Financial aid amounts and living expenses differ based on the

information each student or family reports on the FAFSA or

California Dream Act application. (For example, if a student

indicates she’ll be living off campus, the financial offer will

reflect the typical costs of doing so)
