Daimler India Commercial Vehicles
Pvt Ltd (DICV) is a 100% owned
subsidiary of the German Daimler
AG. The company is one of the leading
Indian commercial vehicle manufacturers
to build vehicles with rich German DNA,
strongly focusing on safety reliability and
comfort.
The headquarters of DICV is based in Chen-
nai with the production plant located at Or-
agadam close by. Spread over 160 hectares,
the plant hosts a full production facility in-
cluding body shop, paint and assembly as
well as all logistics. Also located at the plant
is a 6 km test track that simulates the most
extreme road conditions available anywhere.
The Fuso truck range manufactured at the
DICV Oragadam plant consists of five mod-
els but the recent launch in South Africa of
the FA9-137 (GVW-9.6 tons) will enhance
the current range locally and fall in line
with the growth strategy the company has,
to strengthen its global operations in order
to better position itself in Asia and Africa.
This is the first vehicle to be imported from
Daimler India Commercial Vehicle plant and
will set the pace for future 'built in India'
vehicles.

excellence and demonstrating commitment
to Africa’s growing markets,” says Naeem
Hassim, Head of FUSO Trucks.
The medium-duty FUSO FA9-137 is based
on Daimler Trucks technical platform, the
Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter’s medium-du-
ty truck chassis and the Canter light-duty
truck’s cabin. Power for the FA9-137 is from
a newly developed 4D37, four cylinder, com-
mon-rail diesel engine with a displacement
of 3.9 litres. Driving through a 6-speed syn-
chromesh transmission, the engine has an
output of 100 kW @ 2500 rpm and a torque
of 420 Nm @ 1500 rpm.
