Bossi Srl – Macchine

Finitura Metalli

Italy

434A

WITHIN the research and development

of technologies that are more and more

“customer oriented”, Bossi has recently

designed and supplied a tube manufacturer

with a set of new machines for finishing big

stainless steel welded tubes, to be used in-line

on a tube-mill with TIG welding system.

At this show the company will be aiming

to illustrate a planetary brushing machine

– Mod PL 400/330 – for working diameters

of up to 330mm: the machine in question is

equipped with two brushes and the frame,

which is properly dimensioned, holds the

rotary drum mounted on ball bearings and

is controlled by an inverter: the two brush

opposite spindle groups are positioned on

it, with motorised movement of approaching

and retraction from the tube to be worked.

The weight of 5,100kg and the

dimensioning of the machine allow constant

working, without vibrations.

The simple replacement of brushes is

possible thanks to the wide opening of the

door with vertical sliding.

The machine can be installed on any

tube mill.

Bossi – Macchine Finitura Metalli

operates all over the world, with a leading

position in the manufacture of machines for

metal surface finishing, having more than 40

years of experience in this field. The wide

production range includes machines which

can solve any problem of grinding, satin-

finishing, polishing, deburring, etc of any kind

of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

MAGNETIC Analysis Corporation (MAC)

has designed a flux leakage system to

inspect cold-worked, ERW straightened

tubes used for automotive suspension

structures and cross members such as

axle housings. These tubular parts contain

proprietary geometric characteristics that

make NDT specifications more difficult due

to variances in the ID of the tube.

leakage rotary was designed to detect

weld defects, internal and external cracks,

slivers, incomplete welds, cold weld and

weld porosity. The Rotoflux is capable

of inspecting material from 60 to 190mm

(2.5" to 7.5") OD, with wall thickness

up to 20mm (0.75"). A small diameter

package is included for precise inspection

of smaller diameters. Mounted on a triple

roll constant centring bench, the system

can test to within an inch of the end of the

tube based on the high quality, smooth

carbon steel surface.

The conductor controls allow the system

to be in line at the end of the production

process while integrating an existing

PLC to control the mechanics. The fully

automatic final test system is completed

with conveyors that include the EZ drop

feature for the more delicate handling of

material. Accept and reject pockets and

automatic paint markers are also included.

MAC will be exhibiting at Tubotech with

its Brazil-based representative, Polimeter.
