AWL-Techniek

leading in

laser welding

WITH successful participation in the Laser

World of Photonics exhibition in Munich

AWL-Techniek proved once again that it has

achieved a leading position in laser welding.

For AWL the focus during this exhibition

was on system integration, with the

configuration of the laser welding system as

a central theme. By choosing a laser welding

system, a logistical system and additional

issues such as air flow, templates, security

and flexibility, a custom-made machine is

composed.

With a large number of its suppliers also

present at the fair, AWL was able to outline

the possibilities in the field of laser welding.

There was a demonstration on the stand of

one of the laser welding systems: the fixed-

focusing optics with robots.

In the set-up shown, two robots with fixed

optics are linked to only one laser source. If

one robot welds, the other robot already

goes to the next welding position. When one

has finished welding, the laser is switched

and the other robot can immediately begin.

This saves valuable time and money. This

method optimises the use of the laser.

At the show it became clear that AWL

has made a strong impression, particularly

in the automotive industry. With a large

installed base in laser welding systems

already completed and a large number of

orders in the portfolio, AWL has a strong top

position in laser welding.

“Since 2010 laser welding has really

taken off. More and more companies see it

as the welding technology that fits within their

manufacturing philosophy and contributes to

cost-efficient production,” according to Piet

Mosterd, general manager at AWL.

At the AWL stand attention was also

drawn to the construction of a laser welding

machine. Through careful consideration of

the welding system, the logistics system and

the additional demands and requirements,

AWL builds customised solutions. In short,

a successful exhibition that AWL-Techniek

hopes shows that it can be a good choice for

anyone requiring welding technology.

Pre-ground

TIG/plasma

electrodes

DIAMOND Ground Products Ltd has

introduced a service to supply custom-

made TIG/plasma electrodes, pre-ground

exactly to customers’ specifications.

The service provides users of orbital and

automatic welding systems with confidence

that the weld quality will remain consistent

and keep welders more productive. Users

will no longer have to purchase from their

welding equipment manufacturer, and can

purchase directly from Diamond Ground

Products.

Diamond Ground Products’ longitudinally

prepared pre-ground electrodes are made

to exact specifications and are claimed to

offer improved arc starting and stability,

greater longevity and consistent welds.
