The sequel to the sleeper hit that welcomed Keanu
Reeves back into the action movie fold is a much bigger
and bloodier affair that sees the eponymous hired
killer forced to honour a blood oath to the assassin's
creed (no, not that one). John Wick's target is a high
ranking member of this secret society, whose death
puts a price on Wick's own head. Cue a relentless,
neon-drenched ballet of bullets that's comparable to
the insane action set-pieces of
The Raid
films.
Chapter

expands the fascinating, Freemason-like world (run
by Ian McShane, no less) of these professional killers, where regular
rules and laws don't seem to apply. The bodycount is bigger, Keanu
gets more lines, Laurence Fishburne turns up for a
Matrix
reunion, and
the Wick is well and truly lit for a high stakes third chapter.

Race relations go to hell in writer-director Jordan
Peele's satirical scary movie. A nightmarish version of
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
plays out when white
girl Rose (Allison Williams) takes her new African-
American boyfriend, Chris (Daniel Kaluuya), to meet
the parents during a weekend party at their country
estate. Combining cringe-comedy and creepiness,
Get Out
features the most demented family gathering
since
You're Next,
and builds to a climax punctuated
by big reveals and bursts of cathartic violence. Horror
films have a long history of reflecting cultural anxieties amidst the
scares, and Peele's smart critique on race relations in the US couldn't
be more timely. To say any more would spoil the fun – get out and
grab yourself a copy of this bold and brilliant little gem.

Format:
What would you do if you’d planned a beautiful, romantic
holiday to Ecuador with your rock star boyfriend, only to
have him dump you on getaway’s eve? In Emily’s (Amy
Schumer) case, she drags along her adventure-cautious
mother (Goldie Hawn). What should be a relaxing vacation
for the pair quickly turns into a fight for survival when
Emily and her mom are kidnapped by a local gang while
ona day trip, and must escape their captors and get to
the US embassy. This involves everything from trekking
through the Amazon jungle to fighting off a tapeworm that
looks like a chestburster. Goldie Hawn hasn’t starred in a film in 15 years,
and it’s great to have her back, especially alongside Schumer. Hawn’s
potty mouth reigns supreme in this meeting of comedy generations, and
fans of both ladies will love this unhinged tropical romp.

Since when did the Arthur legend feature colossal
elephants attacking Camelot? When it's been
reimagined by Guy Ritchie. Having turned Sherlock
Holmes into an action hero, Ritchie recasts another
iconic character and builds his own cockney Camelot.
Raised in a Londinium brothel, Arthur (Charlie Hunnam)
grows up with the streetwise smarts to pull Excalibur
from the stone, lead a gang of geezers against his evil
uncle Vortigern (Jude Law), and claim his birthright as
king of Camelot.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
is
more than just a case of Lock, Stock, and a Bloody Big Sword; Ritchie's
take on the classic medieval tale blends
The Lord of the Rings
,
Game
of Thrones
and
Snatch
into a dynamic, bizarro-world version that can be
enjoyed on the same crazy level as
Gods of Egypt
.
