Th

e sequel to the sleeper hit that welcomed Keanu

Re

eves back into the action movie fold is a much bigger

an

d bloodier affair that sees the eponymous hired

ki

ller forced to honour a blood oath to the assassin's

cr

eed (no, not that one). John Wick's target is a high

ra

nking member of this secret society, whose death

pu

ts a price on Wick's own head. Cue a relentless,

ne

on-drenched ballet of bullets that's comparable to

th

e insane action set-pieces of

The Raid

films.

Chapter

2

expands the fascinating, Freemason-like world (run

by Ian McShane, no less) of these professional killers, where regular

rules and laws don't seem to apply. The bodycount is bigger, Keanu

gets more lines, Laurence Fishburne turns up for a

Matrix

reunion, and

the Wick is well and truly lit for a high stakes third chapter.

and builds to a climax punctuated

by big reveals and bursts of cathartic violence. Horror

films have a long history of reflecting cultural anxieties amidst the

scares, and Peele's smart critique on race relations in the US couldn't

be more timely. To say any more would spoil the fun – get out and

grab yourself a copy of this bold and brilliant little gem.

W

hat would you do if you’d planned a beautiful, romantic

ho

liday to Ecuador with your rock star boyfriend, only to

ha

ve him dump you on getaway’s eve? In Emily’s (Amy

other (Goldie Hawn). What should be a relaxing vacation

fo

r the pair quickly turns into a fight for survival when

Em

ily and her mom are kidnapped by a local gang while

on

a day trip, and must escape their captors and get to

th

e US embassy. This involves everything from trekking

through the Amazon jungle to fighting off a tapeworm that

looks like a chestburster. Goldie Hawn hasn’t starred in a film in 15 years,

and it’s great to have her back, especially alongside Schumer. Hawn’s

potty mouth reigns supreme in this meeting of comedy generations, and

fans of both ladies will love this unhinged tropical romp.
