Molecular orientation in PVC pipes
MOLECOR’S air-based technology
supplies a highly stable and safe
process, allowing the company to create
a system able to manufacture PVC-O
pipes up to diameters DN 800mm and
PN 25 bar (M-OR-P 3180), covering a
product range from DN 315mm to DN
800mm. This technology allows a high
orientation degree, reports savings in
raw material and is efficient and easy to
use.
The recognitions and awards received
by the company include the ‘Innovation
Gold’ prize received in the SolVinAwards
2013, in the category of innovation, the
highest recognition of the event. Molecor
has also actively participated in the
creation of new standards throughout
the world, and in the continuous update
of current standards.
The latest update to ISO 16422:2014,
in which the product range has been
extended from DN 630, the previous
maximum in the 2006 edition, to DN
1,000mm, provides a new solution to
the market, where the trend is towards
larger diameters.
In addition to international standard
ISO 16422:2014 are national standards
in countries such as France, South
Africa, Australia/New Zealand, UK and
USA, and Molecor manufactures PVC-O
pipes according to all these standards.
The company, which recently
expanded its production capacity up
to 20,000t/year, develops advanced
technology and products for molecular
orientation applied to PVC pipes,
increasing the range of DN and
pressures, and claims to be the only
supplier to offer the full range up to DN
800mm PVC-O pipe.
The company’s R&D team has
developed elbows, couplings, reducers
and extensions – a wide range of fittings
that are being validated during 2014 and
will be available in 2015.
PVC-O fittings did not previously exist,
and PVC-O lines had to be installed
using either PVC-U fittings or ductile
iron fittings.
Molecor will offer a single plastic
solution for water pipelines 100 per cent
in PVC-O material, that can be used
for irrigation, potable water transport,
industrial
applications,
sewage,
infrastructural and fire protection nets,
among other applications.

Extrusion technology for
welding plastic pipes
RITMO SpA, a manufacturer of welding
equipment for plastics, has renovated
its extrusion line of manual welders
and sheet welders for the fabrication
of special pieces such as cisterns, air
treatment towers and tanks.
The technique is based on the
application of fused (extruded) material,
therefore allowing the fabrication of
customised pieces, as well as the
welding of corrugated pipes. In order
to do so, reliable precision tools are
required, and this is the purpose for
which the Stargun R-SB line was
designed.
The series is composed of four
models, according to the amount of
extruded wire – from 2.2kg/h in the
smallest model, up to 5kg/h with the top
line. All of the extruders have compact
blower, dual control of the temperature
(blower/extruder), wide multifunction
display for the setting and reading of
the working temperature, high density
LED to allow operation in spaces
with reduced lighting, rotating lateral
handgrip, power regulator, and safety
power cut off system. The extruders
may also be used in tight spaces, thanks
to special shoes and continuous rotating
45° and 90° adapters.
While the R-SB 20 and R-SB 30
models are compact and handy,
the R-SB 40 is a powerful, versatile
and flexible unit, with three different
handgrips.
The Stargun R-SB 50 model can
be supplied with a special handgrip
for geomembrane welding. All models
can be provided with different types of
handle, which allows customisation of
the extruder.
