and many more, the devices of the

VisioCablePro® series measure another

important feature – the real cross sectional

area of the plastic sheath.

Automatic geometric measuring devices

(VisioCablePro) support accuracy by

measuring the real cross section directly

while simultaneously monitoring the

associated wall thicknesses and diameters.

The cross section is therefore completely

measured containing all the interstices

material between the conductors, and is

not the result of an approximated circle

calculation.

If the produced length of the cable and

the speci c density of the material are

de ned or imput into the system, you

receive the manufactured volume and

weight of the processed plastic. Should

this information not be available, or if a

percentage statement is su cient, the

feature “overconsumption” can directly

be evaluated by comparing the real cross

section area with the nominal value of

the same. Thus, operators working with

the VisioCablePro series can immediately

receive an overview as to how much

material in percentage is being ‘given

away’ to their customers.

The importance and the consequences of

such material savings or a corresponding

overconsumption should be individually

evaluated

by

every

operator

and

production planner. It is interesting to

see which opportunities a VisioCablePro

system has to prevent an unnecessary

large

overconsumption.

Additionally,

the material usage evaluation is made

with regard to all wall thicknesses and

concentricities.

The assisting measuring device, which

ensures quality standard compliance,

can be evaluated in a simple cost bene t

calculation and can pay for itself within a

very short time.

Inhol and Melos

Stand: 12E03

For Melos and Inhol, re protection from

the inside is an important topic. Melos will

lead the way to superior re behaviour

and CPR results.

On the Melos/Inhol stand a team of

specialists will be available to introduce

ideas about the new approach of ‘Fire

Fighting from the Inside’ of the cable.

Cone calorimeter tests show the excellent

re behaviour of some speci c Melos

bedding compounds. Char forming

sheathing compounds will even lead to

better re behaviour results.

The impact of bedding compounds

might change the cable world within the

forthcoming years. Bedding compounds

will be used as a good value for money

tool to improve the total re performance

of a cable system in conjunction with LSFH

jackets and (XL)PE insulations.

More details will also be unveiled on

Mecoline HM 4 and HM 2 compounds

and information will be available about
