A further entry in the handwriting of John Raphael, the son
of Raphael Raphael states:
»Also for Joseph, the son of Nathan b’r Raphael, who departed this
life Tuesday 20thMay 1845, corresponding to 13'h Ijar 5605 at a
few minutes after
7
o’clock a. m. in his 82nd year.
»Julia Raphael died 10nd June 1857 in the evening, at 9 o’clock.
Two other entries give their birthdays:
»Joseph [=Raphael] Raphael, son of Nathan b’r Raphael, born

Tamuz 5523 (June 24th 1763).
His wife Julia Asher born Monday night 9th Tebeth 5531 (25 Dec.
1770).
The epitaph on Raphael Raphael’s tombstone, who was buried
in Brady Street says:
»Sacred to the memory af Raphael Raphael, who departed this life
20th May ^ (Translation of Hebrew). An aged man full of days.
President & Elder (of the New Synagogue) the honourable Mr.
Joseph Raphael, son of Nathan. He died eighty-two years old
with a good name.«
