New solar plant
in Gujarat
GMR Energy Ltd (GEL), a subsidiary
of GMR Infrastructure, has
commissioned a solar power
plant, situated in the solar park
established by the Gujarat
Government at Charanka village in
Patan district.
The 25MW grid-interactive solar
power project has been executed
through GMR Gujarat Solar Power, a
subsidiary of GMR Energy.
The company has revealed that the
plant uses crystalline photovoltaic
(PV) technology.
Commenting on the development,
Mr Raaj Kumar, CEO GMR Energy,
said “The commissioning of this
solar power plant is a significant
step for us towards a balanced
power portfolio, and this marks the
group’s foray into the renewable
energy space.”
The power plant is supplying power
to Gujarat UrjaVikas Nigam on a
25-year power purchase agreement
under the Gujarat State Solar Policy.
GMR Energy has initiated plans
to enhance its renewable energy
portfolio by over 100MW during the
next two years.
