Could caffeine

kill you?

Deaths from caffeine

overdose are rare,

but they do hap-

pen. The amount of

caffeine considered

to be an overdose

varies by a person’s

size, age and gen-

der. In general, dos-

es of greater than 10

grams will be fatal in

adults.

Can caffeine harm an unborn baby?

Experts say pregnant women should limit their caffeine intake. Some

studies have linked a high intake of caffeine to increased risk for

mis-

carriage

and babies who don’t grow normally.

Does caffeine counteract the affects of alcohol?

This is a common myth—but it’s not true! Caffeine does absolutely noth-

ing to counteract alcohol’s affects. If you’re drunk and you drink 5 cups

of black coffee, you’ll still be drunk! (But you’ll probably have to pee

quite a bit.)
