Conergy
has
announced the installation of a 500kW
solar plant in Molai, in the province of
Laconia in southern Greece. Located
a few kilometers south of Sparta on the
Peloponnese peninsula, the solar plant will
be built on a 20,000m
2
site.
The company has supplied over 2,000
Conergy PowerPlus modules to the
plant, which is estimated to generate a
659,000kWh annually - enough electricity
to power 187 houses, about a fifth of the
population of Molai. The solar plant will be
connected to the local grid through the
use of 30 Conergy IPG 15T inverters.
Stefanos Melissopoulos, Conergy’s MD in
Greece, said: "It is the fifth solar installation
so far this year – a huge achievement for us
here in Greece, particularly in view of the
country's current economic difficulties.”
A spokeswoman for the investor said:
"Greece enjoys a huge amount of sunshine
– so it makes sense to invest in solar.”
