Mandatory Parent Meeting: Wednesday, July 15th at the South Portland Community Center at 6pm.

We will go over practice days and times at this meeting.

South Portland Youth Cheering and South Portland Recreation

have teamed up to offer a fall cheering program that teaches

fundamentals of the sport and supports the South Portland

Youth and Middle School football programs at games. SPYC

focuses on skills, sportsmanship, team work, and community

service activities. Cheerleaders will learn age appropriate

stunts, cheers, and dances as well as participate in team

building activities and the Maine Children’s Cancer Program

Walk. Season runs from mid-July through end of October.

Registration fee includes SPYC T-shirt, uniform rental and hair

bow. Additional individual expenses include undergarments,

white athletic sneakers, pom-poms, and warm up jacket.

SOUTH PORTLAND YOUTH CHEERING

FALL CHEERING

Pee Wee Cheering

Cost:

$75

Description:

Learn basic cheerleading motions, jumps, and

stunts. Two separate teams will cheer for SP Youth Football

PeeWee Big Red and Fire home games.

Minimum:

10 participants

Junior Varsity Cheering

Cost:

$75

Description:

Learn basic/intermediate cheerleader motions,

jumps, and stunts. Two separate teams will cheer for SP Youth

Football Junior Varsity Big Red and Fire home games as well

as end of season Harvest Bowl. All 5th graders new to SPYC

will be placed on Junior Varsity teams.

Minimum:

10 participants

Varsity Cheering

Cost:

Description:

jumps, and stunts. Two separate teams will cheer for SP

Youth Football Varsity home games as well as Harvest Bowl

playoff games. All 5th graders with prior SPYC cheerleading

experience will be placed on Varsity teams.

Junior Riots Cheering

Cost:

$75

Description:

Learn intermediate/advanced cheerleading

motions, jumps, and stunts. This age group may be split into

A and B teams as needed and cheer for both home and away

SP Junior Riots football regular season and playoff games.
