underwater electrical connectors for deep

submersion applications. The Submariner

series of subsurface wet- and dry-mate

connectors can be used in depths up to

6,000m, at underwater pressures of up to

600 bar.

The connector is designed for use by the

military and government, diving equipment

manufacturers, remotely operated vehicle

(ROV) and autonomous underwater

vehicle (AUV) manufacturers as well as

deep submergence science and research

projects.

The Submariner series is fully compatible

with similar products in the industry, and can

be interchanged with existing connections

in an ROV, for example, without replacing

all of the vehicle’s connections.

The new product series uses Amphenol’s

molding and adhesion expertise to offer

an optional molded-to-cable feature. This

feature ensures that the seal between the

cable and connector remains intact under

water. All polymer-to-metal bonding surfaces

are carefully sandblasted, cleaned, primed

and molded. The rugged metal shells and

recessed pins assure reliable performance

in the most demanding environments.

Available in three different shell sizes and

a variety of configurations, Amphenol’s

Submariner series features wire gauges

from 10 AWG to 20 AWG, a maximum

operating voltage of 600V and operating

temperatures ranging from –5ºC to 65ºC.

For longer life and prolonged mating

cycles, each connector is designed with

gold-plated contacts per MIL-G 45204 at 30

microns.

Mini cable for easy management

Manufacturer CABLExpress has added a

mini category 6 (CAT6) copper trunk to

its cabling product set. With a significant

reduction in diameter, themini copper trunk

decreases cabling congestion and allows

for increased airflow in the data center.

The mini CAT6 copper trunk bundle has an

outer diameter of 0.62'' (compared to its

original diameter of 1.2''). The copper trunk

breakout legs have a diameter of 0.148'',

reduced from 0.29''.

“This product will be very beneficial for those

looking to create a well designed structured

cabling system that maximizes space in the

datacenter,” said Peter Belyea, president of

CABLExpress. “While the use of fiber cabling

has been steadily increasing to keep up

with faster network speeds, copper cabling

is still a main component in many data

center platforms. We’re excited to offer

a copper trunking solution that provides

the high performance of CAT6 with the

manageability of a slimmer design.”

Features of the new CABLExpress mini CAT6

copper trunk include options for even or

staggered breakouts to reduce excess

cable; customizable trunk and breakout
