DPF Failure Causes / Awareness

ADVICE FOR DIESEL

PARTICULATE FILTER CARE

• When the EML warning light illuminates you

must follow the instructions in the owners

handbook immediately. Failure to comply

could lead to a blocked DPF.

• Active DPFs that use additive (Eloy’s Fluid)

to assist in regeneration must never be

driven without this fluid, as this could result

in a blocked DPF.

• When fitting a new DPF or topping up the

additive the control unit must be reset to

new DPF / refilled additive.

• It is not advisable to run a DPF vehicle on

bio-diesel.

REGENERATION WILL

NOT TAKE PLACE WHEN

• The fuel light is on, or there is less than

quarter of a tank of fuel

• If the engine management light is on

• If your foot is resting on the

clutch pedal

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust stream.

DPFs are only covered for structural failure, a particulate filter returned due to blockage will not be considered as a warranty claim.
