1943 (E) – NC Burtt

– became a

Great Grandfather to Zachary in

September 2011. Norman tells us

that he has already put Zachary’s

name down for the MCC and has

had a ½ pint tankard engraved

with his name!

1947 – (G) TH Bradley

– sent us

an update following his retirement

as trustee for the Addington Fund

after ten years. He was appointed

President of the Jersey Cattle

Society of the UK in August 2011.

As well as this appointment

he is Centenary Chairman of the

Central Warwickshire National

Farmers Union 2010–11, President

of the East Midlands Jersey Cattle

Club, Treasurer of the Kenilworth

and District Agricultural

Society and the Treasurer of the

Ferncumbe Youth Club.

1959 (E) –RS Little

– In

celebration of his 70th birthday

in 2011, Richard Stenhouse Little

took passage in a container

vessel through the Gulf of Aden

to Khawr Fakkan (UAE), and

then transferred by road to the

Sultanate of Oman. Richard

reported, “This was a voyage

round ‘Middle East Unrest and

Somali Piracy’ to see for himself

how the world’s navies were coping

with the scourge now costing the

world economy $US 7–12 billion

annually.” His paper on this

subject was published by the Naval

Review August 2011 and he is now

involved in researching counter-

piracy.

Richard also took part in the

50th anniversary of passing out

from Britannia Royal Naval

College. “Mike Trotman, Francis

(Frank) Worthington and I all

joined the Britannia RN College

Dartmouth and started our RN

Training in the summer term

1959, passing out to the Fleet in

August 1961. Douglas JC Haslett

(deceased) had joined the term

previous, by the way, but, being

a somewhat relaxed officer, got

‘back termed’ into our term on

failure of exams!

In mid-September this year

Mike, Frank and self were part

of our ‘Dartmouth Term’s’

50th Reunion over a weekend,

including a dinner and all sorts

of related shenanigans actually

in the College itself and in

Dartmouth.”

1959 (E) – MA Trotman

joined Richard Little and Frank

Worthington to celebrate the

50th Anniversary of their Passing

Out from Britannia Royal Naval

College. Sadly, the fourth OSE

member of the Team, Douglas

‘George’ Haslett (F) died in 2007.

1961 (G) – RA Ewbank

– will be,

“moving to Selborne Vicarage

after Easter, hopefully for five

years or so, where I will be

assisting in the ministry in

eleven beautiful Hampshire

villages as ‘house for duty priest’.

I will be licensed by Bishop

Peter at St Nicholas Chawton

(Jane Austen’s village) at 7pm on

Thursday 26th April.
