Cell death may occur at different times following mitotic catastrophe

Nuclear fragmentation

Apoptosis, necrosis, senescence, autophagy

Cells may attempt several divisions

Multiple failed divisions

Cell fusions

Giant cell formation, multiple micronuclei

Genome becomes so unstable as to no longer support normal cell

function
