Superior Vena Cava Syndrome - SVCS

• Obstruction of SVC, reduction of

blood flow and increased blood

pressure in proximal vessels

• Signs:

– Dyspnea

– Edema of face, neck chest,

upper extremities

– cyanosis

– Stridor, headeache (2-10%)

– Visible collateral blood flow

network in the chest wall

– Sympoms are worse in

horizontal position
