PROJECTS AND CONTRACTS
Kwikspace Modular Buildings
(Kwikspace), sub-Saharan
Africa’s leading manufacturer
of prefabricated building
products together with the
Department of Health have,
in a highly anticipated rollout,
begun the installation of 23
health clinics in Mpumalanga
.
According to Health Department
statistics, Mpumalanga has the second
highest HIV/AIDS infection rate in the
country after KwaZulu-Natal. The project will
supply much neededmedical facilities that will
consist of six consultation clinics which will be
all be built as permanent structures. Each clinic
will measure approximately 250 m² and will
have enough space to treat six people at a time.
Kwikspace is making use of its new, inno-
vative KwikMAX permanent building products
for these clinics and is further responsible for
the installation of 11 of the 23 medical clinics.
This is the real test for innovative systems
for clinics in South Africa and speed is the

idea behind this programme. Phase one of the
project will take place in Mpumalanga, Limpopo,
the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The final
delivery will fulfil the need for a quick assembly
of the clinics as part of a larger national three
year programme which will be spread across
the whole of South Africa.
The robust KwikMAX products are manu-
factured using light weight steel framing
technology to form structurally insulated panel
systems (SIPS). These panels are manufactured
on a large scale in a factory environment
under stringent quality control and will be
assembled to meet the requirements of
efficient medical structures.
Comments David van Zyl, Kwikspace’s
building systems manager: “The clinics will
incorporate much needed medical facilities,
which will be a historical improvement. The
units will provide access to HIV/AIDS support
and general healthcare which will be a great
achievement.”
