COSTS

OF AGREEMENTS FOR

SHORT TENANCIES

SOME confusion appears to have been caused by

a notice on the subject of reduced fees for certain

letting agreements which appeared in the GAZETTE

for May, 1947, and April, 1948.

It is pointed out

that in law the full scale fee is chargeable for all

letting agreements.

A custom has grown up in

the past of charging a reduced fee when the letting

was for a short term ; of premises for residential

purposes, and the rent was not large and the letting

agreement was in a more or less common form

containing no

special covenants or conditions.

The Council do not disapprove of this practice.
