Wire Drawing

Machinery

53

Wire & Cable ASIA – March/April 2007

The M+E production range includes

machines with 2, 4 or 6 cones with

a maximum of 12, 25 or 33 dies for

a finished wire diameter down to

minimum 0.08mm (0.0031").

The main wet drawing machine

characteristics are: Straight wire

path, without transfer sheaves, wire

drawing only in one direction, high

ratio between ring diameter and wire

diameter, guaranteed proper wire and

dies lubrication during stringing-up,

high pressure individual die cleaning

system, water cooled final die and final

capstan, robust, anti-vibration steel

frame, heavy duty bearings and cone

shafts, cone shafts specially sealed

to prevent bearings damage, compact

design with excellent accessi-

bility during stringing-up, minimum

wire slip percentage on cones, AC

main motor with slip-proof belt

transmission, complete accessibility

to all components allowing easy main-

tenance, completely pre-wired, with

incorporated electrical cabinet and

an enclosed design with interlocked

safety guards conforming to the most

stringent safety regulations.

M+E wet drawing machines are

supplied complete with wire pay-

off and traditional or fully-automatic

spooler. The spooler can be supplied

for taking up wire on vertical or

horizontal axis spools.

Machines to cover all

production steps

Manufacturers of copper or aluminium

wire are confronted with the challenge

of a keen competition and increasing

quality requirements.

Niehoff has developed wire drawing

machines and adequate continuous

annealers which cover all production

steps from wire rod drawing to fine

and super-fine wire drawing.

These are also available in line drawing

and annealing lines for wire made of

aluminium and aluminium alloys. The

type M85 multi draft rod breakdown

machines – by far the most popular

machines – are designed to draw wire

rod made of copper or aluminium from

an initial diameter of 8mm or 9.5mm,

respectively, down to a final diameter

of 1mm.

The experiences gained with these

conventionally driven machines have

been the basis of the electronically
