U. K. B. G. GUIDE TO DRINKS
Riesling—
Traminer—both exceptionally good wines, in fact, the
best that are produced in the area. The latter
sometimes assumes the name of Gewurztraminer,
which name is not often used on account of its
difficult pronunciation.
The name "Gentil" or "Zwicker" and "Edels-
wicker"is used when the wine is made from a
blend of different varieties of grapes.
Sometimes the name of the town or village is associated
with the wine. Thus we get Traminer de Riquewihr or
Riesling de Kayserberg, etc.
The area produces mostly white wines, but it does also
produce a small amount of red, rose and sparkling wines
which are mostly consumed locally.
