M Y NEW COCKTAI L BOOK
WHITE LADY
I/2 Dry Gin
1/4 Cointreau
I/4 Lime juice
From Mr. W. C. Powers: "The only new cocktail in
London is one invented by a man at Quaglinos, which is
called the 'White Lady.' You make this with two parts
Gin, one part Cointreau (if you can get hold of any) and
one part Lime juice. You can jockey the Lime juice and
Cointreau a little, depending upon whether you like it
sweet or sharp, butthe result is a very nice, clean-looking
drink and seems to be the most popular now over here.
You will realize that the White Lady is a sister of the
Side-car, Gin being substituted for the Brandy in the
Side-car. Most of us think that Brandy is a mistake in a
cocktail, and all the Side-car enthusiasts who have tried
the White Lady have transferred their allegiance to the
new sister."
