We had a very pleasant surprise at our Christmas luncheon.
Diana Fishleigh Eaton
, with whom we had lost contact
for several years as she had been very ill, attended. She is
looking well and enjoying life again. We were joined by

Nancy Stewart Russell
’s granddaughter Kelly
participated in the Summer Olympics in Rio on the rugby
team and won a bronze medal for Canada. Kelly lives and
trains outside of Victoria, where she teaches at a rugby
school. Kelly’s sister Jennifer teaches at Havergal.
Virginia
Gooderham Pride
still lives in Oakville and was in touch
with
Nora Cooper Prouse
to keep up with family news.
Nora and Frank will be late in leaving for their condo in Fort
Lauderdale as they wanted to be with family for Frank’s
90th birthday.
Jane Clarke Veit
’s daughter took her on a Rhine cruise
to Budapest. Jane attended the Women’s March in San
Francisco on the day of the presidential inauguration.
Joan
Wilkinson Hoolihan
is on the move between her homes in
Florida and Toronto (which is near her daughter).
Charlene
Smart Sibbit
enjoys her apartment and still knits for the
I.O.D.E. She has had heart problems, but still loves to hear
from everyone in our year and passes on the news for the
Chronicle
.

CLASS REPS: Elizabeth Scroggie Joy and Marion
McTaggart Oliver
This year’s news largely reflects on children and
grandchildren.
Lucy Szerstiuk Woodliffe
has five children
– one breeds and trains dogs and another is a town
planner. Lucy is still doing bonsai.
Amy Lawson Beament
is about to embark on a cruise with her three daughters
and her son from Calgary.
Naomi Goldie Peters
has a
grandson at the University of Toronto. He is heading for
California to see his brother become an Eagle Scout.
Barb Hossie Hogarth
in Thunder Bay has a grandson
whose excitement is “clutter busting” (tightrope walking
from mountain peak to mountain peak), while completing
his PhD in neurology at McGill University.
Anne McCordick
McPherson
spends time at their retreat in the south of
France. She plans to go to Spain and Scotland this summer
and is still writing.
Natalie Hooke McMinn
is very happy
in her retirement home in Ottawa, where she has taken up
painting using different media. Intrepid as ever, she drove
from her cottage to attend a current events club meeting in
Toronto in October. She plans to make the trip again in April.
Nancy Bunting Zimmerman
has a 1-and-a-half-year-old
great-grandchild named Henry.
Di Durand McLeod
has 13
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. I think that she
wins this contest! Her family arranged a “for all to attend”
concert at Turner Hall to hear Di’s favourite singers from
England on her birthday.
Elinor Hilborn Hewton
is adjusting
to her new condo in Oakville, near her daughter. She recently
visited her 2-and-a-half-year-old grandson in Utah.
Joanna
Millar Dwinell
keeps busy with Probis and is a keen gardener.
She is still in her house and has four great-grandsons.
Joyce Rowland McBurney
spends summers at her
cottage in Huntsville and enjoys visits from her sons and
grandchildren. Her granddaughter was married at the
cottage last summer.
Mollyann Clappison Geiselman
volunteers at the Gibson centre.
Elizabeth Scroggie
Joy
’s granddaughter Jasmine Joy 2017 is Ellen Knox house
captain in her final year at Havergal.
Colleen Henry
Howard
spends winters in Florida and summers at the
Lake of Bays. She also has an apartment in Toronto.
