preparation o f draft Regulations under Part

V II o f the Solicitors’ Act, 1954, was referred to the

Compensation Fund Committee.

Regulations o f the Disciplinary Committee.

Council considered and approved the Solicitors

(Disciplinary) Rules, 1955, and the Solicitors

(Disciplinary Appeals) Rules, 1955 ; the last men­

tioned rules to be submitted to the Superior Courts

Rules Committee.

Exchange Control Act, 1954-

Secretary stated that

a

letter had been received

from the Department o f Finance enquiring whether

the Society would agree to

a

regulation whereby

solicitors would be included among the persons and

bodies named as authorised depositories of certain

securities under the Act. It was decided that the

Department should be informed that the Council

would agree to such a regulation but asking for

a copy o f the draft regulations before they are made.

Election to Seanad Eireann.

Mayne and Sheil, Vice-Presidents, were

asked to represent the Society at a meeting o f the

nominating bodies which was summoned to con­

sider proposals for changing the present system of

election to Seanad Eireann.
