all in one – for either offline or inline
production in a tandem process.
Rosendahl Nextrom provides a high
quality and advanced production line
for large dimensions up to 200mm core
diameter.
The line and all its production steps
meet the high level of demand and
flexibility a cable manufacturer
requires.
Focusing on the application of HV
cables, a flexible solution is the future in
the HV cable industry. HV power cables
are used for chemical plants, refineries,
mines and factory environments and
there are designs for dry locations,
indoor as well as outdoor, direct buried
or conduit installation.
Other special applications can be
considered as submarine power cables
such as dynamic cables for floating
platforms with corrugated copper
sheath or as power cables for
renewable energy such as export
cables for offshore wind farms and
cables for photovoltaic power plants.
It is obvious that high precision work
was the core value when designing this
production line. The semi-automatic
tape preparation equipment ensures
the best tape treatment for the forming
and welding process. One of the main
targets was to develop a cost effective
solution for tools and to cover a huge
product range with reduced tool costs,
which is possible with Rosendahl and
Nextrom’s highly flexible and precise
hybrid forming station.
The companies were also aware that
continuous operation is a must have,
and therefore installed a double dual
torch TIG welding system to allow an
electrode change during production.
An automatic weld seam tracing
system keeps the torches directly over
the gap to achieve best welding
quality. The innovative design of the
split clamp catterpillar enables the
highest pulling forces and an
adjustment of the clamping pressure
with a very short construction length.
The RH-W produces smooth and/or
corrugated products at high speed for
helical and annular design. For
different dimensions, a quick change
mechanism for tools as well as easy,
safe and repeatable handling, has
been catered for.
