Panto stars to light up Tadley

A PRINCE and princess will turn on

Tadley’s Christmas lights and make

it a fairytale occasion on Friday,

November 25.

Stars of The Anvil’s pantomime,

Sleeping Beauty

, including Katrina

Bryan, who takes the leading role of

Princess Briar Rose, are set to light up

the town.

Ms Bryan is a familiar face to children,

as she takes the part of Nina, in

Nina

and the Neurons

, on the children’s

channel CBeebies.

Ben Harlow, who plays the prince, will

make a return visit to Tadley, as he also

helped turn on the lights in 2014, when

he played Prince Charming in

Cinderella

at The Anvil, Basingstoke.

The occasion starts at 6pm, with a

Christmas market in the Ambrose

Allen Centre, next to Tadley Town

Council offices in Franklin Avenue.

Entertainment and refreshments will

be available at the family event, which

is organised by the town council.

Burnham Copse Primary School choir

will sing carols at 6pm and at 6.30pm,

Tadley Band and the Hurst Singers will

join them, followed by the countdown to

the big lights switch-on at 7pm.

Charity fundraisers Loddon Valley

Lions will transport Father Christmas

on a float to the Tadley Christmas lights

switch-on.

The Lions will then set off with Father

Christmas on their annual month-long

tour of North Hampshire villages on

their Christmas float, ending on Friday,

December 23.

Tour stops include: Tadley, Pamber

End, Monk Sherborne, Sherborne St

John, Sherfield, Kingsclere, Pamber

Heath, Bramley, Baughurst, Silchester,

Father Christmas will return to Tadley

Pet Supplies, in Heath End Road, from

4.30pm to 6pm, on Friday, December 16,

with a sleigh full of presents to give-

away to children.

There will be chance to meet the real

reindeer, set to arrive pulling the

sleigh, thanks to Animal Dramatics in

Aldermaston, who supply the reindeer.

The popular annual event is hosted by

pet shop proprietor, Andrew Green.

There will be a collection in aid of

Burghfield and Mortimer First

Responders, in memory of Mr Green’s

father, the late Joe Green.

In Kingsclere, a festive atmosphere

comes to Kingsclere Primary school,

from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, on Friday,

December 2. when the school, in Ash

Grove, hosts its annual Christmas Fair.

There will be the chance for children to

meet Father Christmas in his grotto,

alongside stalls and a raffle, in aid of

school funds.

Entry to the grotto costs £3, including a

present and photograph with Father

Christmas

Father Christmas will also be out and

about on his sleigh, with a procession

planned from Ecchinswell to Bishops

Green at 5.30pm on Saturday, December

3.

This will be followed by a party at

Bishops Green Village Hall, all in aid of

the Ecchinswell Bell Restoration Trust

and Bishops Green Community

Association.

Calleva Women’s Institute will host

their annual Christmas bazaar at

Pamber Heath Memorial Hall on Satur-

day, December 3, from 2pm to 4pm.
